$18.98. That's how much I dropped on magazines at the Hudson News yesterday morning. I'm a sucker for magazines. For someone who tries to live thrifty and "claims" to be cheap, I fall off the wagon at the news stand. I also get like 6 magazines mailed to me so I assure you, this is a sickness.
Yeah, I can't help it. Ofcourse Martha is my favorite but Country Living comes in a close second. I mean how cute is that pumpkin cake on the cover?? You know I'm making that, right? AND it's made from a box mix. That's my kind of cake. Also, they have a Flea Market page on their website where you can post things you have to sell and browse others. Check it out here.
I'm still on the fence about Blueprint which is new from Martha. the first issue was okay but I didn't love it. I thought I'd give it one more chance. :)
The new Knit It has some to die for cute baby hat and bootie patterns and a bag from Nicky Epstein. You know, if you like doing all those hours of color work and then felting it down to mish mash.
The other one is Creative Home, one of the hundreds of publications by Better Homes & Gardens (who I also think distributes Knit It for that matter.) I usually find some good decorating tips.
So why all the magazines? You see, I have this book . . .
I mean I can't possibly KEEP all the magazines, right? So instead I cut out all the stuff that inspires me to be creative and paste them in this book. It can be anything for the instructions for Christmas crafts you see here to just pictures I like. I can jote down notes, too. Now I have a place to go when I want to make something but I just don't know what. Occasionally I cut out things to mail to other people. Be glad I don't have your address.
So anyway, that's that. Now you know something about me. I'm obsessed with magazines and cut & paste. :)

I didn't see the new interweave crochet. Have you gotten that one yet? I came up with an idea for for loose patterns (like from calenders and project sheets from the craft store) and patterns (and recipes) to pull out of magazines and store them. I've got tons of loose and magazines with only one or 2 patterns that I want to keep. I don't have room for all these mags. Anyway, once I've completed one I'll let you know how it turns out. I want to see how it turns out and then I'll share. Might be stupid.
Cheers,
Dita
Rebecca, you and I are cut from the same cloth! I am a magazine FIEND. My fave right now is Country Living. You can get a subscription to that one for $12 a year--cheap! I also get Country Home. I don't like it nearly as well but I think I got a deal for 3 years for some ridiculously low price.
I addition to those two, I get 3 scrapbooking mags, a church mag, and my DH gets Backpacker and Outdoors and 2 financial mags, all on subscription. They are piled thick and deep around here!
I just bought the October Martha today at the grocery store. Normally I wait and buy them at JoAnn's with a 40% off coupon but I couldn't resist the jack o' lantern on the front! I have kept all my October Marthas throughout the years.
I got the first issue of Blueprint free but it just isn't me, so I won't be getting that one anymore. I also love Cooking Light, but I have to draw the line somewhere!
I too know of this magazine obsession. My husband is thinking of sending me to the Betty Ford clinic for magazine consumption abuse.
Oh my GOSH! There are others out there - others like me?! Hello every one.... My name is Nina and I'm a magazine addict. My sickness spans the spectrum from "CMJ New Music Monthly" (because south Florida only knows ONE kind of music, and that's the booty shakin' music - oy), to "Runner's World" (marathon training begins in 72 hrs!), to "People" (yes, I just admitted that), "Martha", "Creating Keepsakes", "In Style", "Lucky", "Domino". Well, you get the idea. I too have had to pull pages / articles in order to keep my house from turning into a newsstand. I am a sick sick woman...

As a magazine editor, I'm happy when people still buy magazines and read them. Right now I only get Knit Simple (a gift from my mom) but I read a lot of them at the library (I'm super thrifty!) I'm waiting for my sample copy of Blueprint. I used to get MS Living, but it was too much cooking, not enough crafting, imho. I enjoy your blog!
Oh man, do I share the magazine sickness. I think I buy every magazine there is every month. (And I also have like 6 subscriptions.) I am also on the fence about Blueprint though. Even the second issue didn't impress. (If the Oct Martha is on the newstand I know where we are going after naptime!)
