Girlfriend Goodness

So what do you think of the new look? I sort of like it but the pink also sort of makes me a little sick, too. Thoughts? I would love to figure out how to do a new header and I believe I'll have to put that on my short list of to do items.

Did you know that I won Heather's bridal shower giveaway?? I'm so excited! And Lucy won, too! What a bunch of lucky girls. Nice to see I've hit my quota of winning one thing every 15 years. 2022 is going to be a good year! ;)

I'm being abducted today. My Good Girls are taking me away for a bachlorette weekend. I have no idea where we are even going! Exciting, no? So I thought I would dedicate today's post to the love of Girlfriends. You know the old saying that boyfriends come and go but your girlfirends are forever? Well it's certainly been true for me. I am so fortunate to have such close and long time friends. For instance, my dear friend Dana and I have known each other since we were 5!

I'd say we're about 7 in this picture? That's me on the right looking like I'm a cadet at Gene Kelly's Singing in the Rain Boot Camp. Dana would be the cute one on the left. Still friends after all these years.

I also have Stacy who I met in the 9th grade and Ida who I met in 10th. Fortunate is the only way to describe it. So hug your girlfriends and think of them often. They've seen you at your worst so you have to keep them close. ;)

Until Monday . . .

I can help you sort out the header thing, but maybe you want to wait until after the wedding? LOL I can also help you customize your template anyway you want it, color and so forth. Well, to the best of my inexperienced ability! Have a great weekend.

I hope you don't mind some technical feedback...but I'd like to answer your question on how to put in a customized banner.

Log into blogger and open your template. You'll see a log of gobbledy gook. Look for the section that starts out like:

/* Page Structure
----------------------------------------------- */
@media all {
#content {
background:url

I have stored a header I like in Flickr. I have put a link to it in the section for the background: url. You just plug that name in and give it the size specifications (that is found in Flickr when you view the different sized version of your image).

Your line could look like this:

("http://farm1.static.flickr.com/145/361827079_gobbletygook.jpg") no-repeat 240px 96px;
width:750px;
margin:0 auto;
padding:40px 0;
text-align:left;

I made up that file reference -- when you save the picture to Flickr it will assign the name. Once you view the picture at a good size (I chose medium for my banner), right click to bring up the file properties, and it will show you the image size -- which in this example is 240px 96px.

Just fudge with the html stuff and preview it. If it looks weird (and it never looks right on your first few tries!), just hit "Clear Edits" and it will restore you to what you started with.

You can email me privately if you don't understand this. I'm no pro, but I fudged it by starting out with a canned Blogger template, adding my own banner and background. It's at

www.livingwithoutmoney.blogspot.com -- I put the ticking background, the polkadot background and the header over on Flickr, and just have the blogger template directed to those files. It is confusing at first, but it can be done as long as you are willing to experiment -- just remember that you can easily clear out your changes without saving them.

OK, I'll stop now!

Girlfriends ROCK! Have a super fun time this weekend. Can't wait to hear the goods.

Think of your creativity as simmering. You are just soaking up all the creative goodness out there right now. Then BAM! you'll be good to go.

I'm loving your dollhouse. I so want one.

Cheers! LA

Enjoy your weekend and love your tribute to the girls. Can't wait to see where your adventures took you! The Pg-13 parts of them anyway..LOL.

Congratulations on your winnings, too!! I'm right there with you, 2022 is going to be a good year for the both of us! LOL

I'd love to do a banner too, I have no idea where to start either. I like the pink background on your blog, I changed mine up too, just before the swap, it's cozy looking :)

I love the pink. I also want to get a better banner so no advice here. But looks like there are already some super-nice bloggers out there willing to help you with the banner. Have fun experimenting with your header.

In Covet, I have alot of the same feelings about all the talent out there and how I'm just starting out. I bet you are more talented than you think and after the wedding, you'll have time to do alot more. There is so much great inspiration out there! Thanks for posting some links (I especially have a fondness for the felt food, love her desserts!)

Let us know how your girlfriend weekend went.
